A desperate government's efforts failed on Friday to achieve any breakthrough with Baba Ramdev deciding to go ahead with his indefinite fast in New Delhi from Saturday amidst indications that a compromise was likely in a day or two.
Government today announced plans for setting up a National Institute for Assessment which would evaluate curriculum and education standards at school level in different states and suggest measure to improve them.

"The telecom companies under the (proposed)NTP-2011 will have to file an application 30 months prior for the renewal of the telecom licenses and it (the licence) will be renewed for 10 years unlike 20 years as of now," Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal said.
